What if I fail?
Oh, But My Darling What if You Fly?
All of us have doubts. We worry. We fret over things we cannot control. And that is perfectly normal. While no one wants to fail, it will happen. Let that sink in for a moment. You can do everything you can not to fail, but there will be a time in your life when you do fail.
Instead of curling up into a ball on the bathroom floor or eating a whole cherry pie why not accept that fact and move forward with whatever it is you dream about.
For me, it was writing. I always wanted to write a book, but I was afraid no one would be interested in my stories. Or they’d think they were stupid. Or that I couldn’t get published? Or if I did, the book would be a total and utter failure.
I pushed ahead through all the fears and wrote my book. Am I topping the New York Times Bestsellers list? No, absolutely not. Have I accomplished a goal? Have I gained confidence? Have I met some amazing people? Yes, yes, Yes!
Now I realize there is nothing to fear. So what if it doesn’t work? Well, then you know how to do things differently. If you never fail, you will never accomplish anything.
Here are some things that helped me:
Instead of stagnating, break your goal down into manageable chunks.
Do a little ever day to reach your goal.
- Think about your goal throughout the day. What you visualize on a daily basis will eventually happen. (As long as it’s physically possible. I can think about being a leggy super model all day long and it’s never going to happen.)
- Accept help
- Don’t be limited by what other’s think
- Realize that some people you care deeply about might be jealous of your progress
So take that first step, and reach for your dreams, and maybe, just maybe, You Will Fly.
